Wacom’s smart styli honoured with prestigious iF DESIGN AWARDS

The Intuos Creative Stylus 2 and the Bamboo Stylus fineline, have been awarded winning status at the iF DESIGN AWARDS 2015. Both smart styli were in the ‘Product’ discipline, which received over 3,209 entries, underpinning the global respected reputation of the iF DESIGN AWARDS.

The Bamboo Stylus fineline and the Intuos Creative Stylus 2’s innovative design impressed the jury of experts as they considered criteria such as design, quality, finish, choice of materials and degree of innovation. Heidi Wang, Vice President of Technology Marketing at Wacom, commented; “We are proud to have won this year’s iF DESIGN AWARDS for our styli. As a pioneer in pen technology, Wacom manufactures products and software that encourage creative expression and ideation on digital platforms. The styli combine cutting-edge technological and user oriented design and these accolades confirm that we are still on the right track.” 

All award winners from the iF DESIGN AWARDS are currently on show in the comprehensive iF online exhibition – www.ifdesign.de. From 1st March onwards, the winning products from Wacom will also be displayed at the iF flagship exhibition, located at the heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity (Hongkongstraße 6, 20457 Hamburg), the go-to place for those with a special interest in design and architecture. The products will be on show for three months.

The Bamboo Stylus fineline is a high-precision stylus with a thin tip for note taking, handwriting, doodling and navigation on an iPad – supported by leading note taking and pdf mark-up apps as well as Wacom Bamboo Paper app. With its 1,024 pressure levels it feels as natural as pen on paper, resulting in authentic looking writing and finely nuanced sketches. Writing becomes easy thanks to palm rejection. The Bamboo Stylus fineline has an elegant curvature design and is made of high-quality materials with a soft-touch aluminium finish. It is available in five fresh colours. Its thin tip (1.9mm) is extremely durable and can be replaced easily.

Designed for artists and designers the Intuos Creative Stylus 2 comes with a fine solid tip for increased visibility and intricate detail for sketching, drawing and painting on an iPad. Offering 2,048 pressure levels and palm rejection in supporting key graphics apps, the stylus senses the lightest touch with the pen on the iPad like a pen or brush on real paper or canvas. The user experience is further enhanced thanks to Bluetooth 4.0 that seamlessly connects the stylus to iPads and Wacom’s Cloud services.
The Intuos Creative Stylus 2 is beautifully designed and made using brushed aluminium and a soft touch silicone grip. Available in black and grey, this design tool also boasts an ergonomic shape that makes it is particularly comfortable to use even after numerous hours. It offers USB charging options, a flared front to support a variety of holding styles and side-switch for ease of use.
